Norfolk and Waveney Education and Training Framework for Dementia Education
Norfolk and Waveney Health and Care Partnership, along with key stakeholders, have developed a new framework to enable all Health and Social Care colleagues working in a range of settings access appropriate dementia education and training.
Many staff feel insufficiently trained overall in relation to dementia and the aim of this document is to ensure all staff have opportunity to access appropriate dementia training. This document has been developed in partnership with health, social care and wider public sector organisations, to enable the highest quality of care for all people in Norfolk and Waveney. The document offers a range of free, accessible resources for staff to inform their training and education to support excellent quality care.
According to Norfolk and Waveney Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) statistics, the estimated prevalence of people living with Dementia in Norfolk is 16,700 and in Suffolk 13,500. This is predicted to rise in Norfolk to 22,370 by 2030 (14,000 of these people will have severe dementia), and in Suffolk to 18,770 (including those with severe dementia who total 12,154).
We hope that the document enables staff to feel more confident and supported in their delivery of excellent, compassionate care for people living with dementia in Norfolk and Waveney.
