UEA Final Legacy Nurse Report
Short description
Happy healthy people providing excellent compassionate care
This exciting programme will see Legacy Mentor across the ICS clinically teaching both pre and post-registration learners to help shape the Health and Care workforce. These mentors will spend a ‘legacy’ period, supervising, supporting and handling over their career insights to learners, based on their experiences in nursing or AHP. The role will support learners, assessors and supervisors across the system using a model based on the Collaborative Learning in Practice (CLiP).
The role of the Legacy Mentor will also ensure collaboration with Education Leads and universities across the Norfolk and Waveney System to increase placement capacity across health and social care. The role provides an opportunity to transfer skills and expertise to others. Ongoing support will be provided by both the ICS and educational providers to ensure that individual, often bespoke, learning needs are met, dependent upon the requirements of the individual.
A successful pilot will support our ambition that these will become dedicated roles across the system, so that experienced nurses have the opportunity to feel a sense of achievement by imparting their skills and knowledge to others.
